We’re Getting Ready—Are You?

Tulip Gospel Outreach has been hard at work preparing for the IowaGo! Creation Evangelism Booth for the Iowa State Fair from August 6-17 (parade included). Several weeks ago, we put new casters on the totes, ensured all the exhibition materials were present, cleaned the floor, organized tools, and completed many other projects. Yesterday, during our workday, we cleaned the train track, rewired the track, and loaded the trailer with our first load. We still have so much to do, especially finishing the wiring underneath the ark exhibit. Jon has already ordered more wiring, tracts, and other materials needed for another successful year at the fair.

With that said, how are you preparing to volunteer at the IowaGO! booth this year? Maybe you haven’t thought about it yet, or hasn’t crossed your mind since it’s only July 8th. But like the exhibit, it takes a lot of work and preparation to gear up for an event, especially if evangelism isn’t an everyday occurance. So, here are some things to check off your list to help you prepare yourself as we prepare the space for you to shine the light of Christ in this dark world.

Register NOW!

Volunteers can register for the IowaGO! booth right now, right HERE. Just click on the link and at the bottom of the screen you will see a blue REGISTRATION box at the bottom. Click it and follow the prompts. Information for the event can be found in two places:

Overview and Schedule

The overview and shift schedule can be found at the IowaGo! Creation Evangelism 2025 page where you can also register. It also describes what you will have the opportunity to do while at the booth. Things like:

  • Parade tract distribution
  • Give out tracts and other resources
  • Put fake tattoos on kids that promote creation and a biblical worldview
  • Have one-on-one conversations about faith in Jesus Christ
  • Answer questions about the Bible, creation, and faith with non-believers.
  • Encourage believers to share the gospel with tools they can start learning immediately

The above list may look overwhelming to you. But that’s what we are here for. At every shift there will be an experienced evangelist right by your side so that you never have to worry about being alone or feeling ill-equipped. This is not just local outreach, but a learning experience as well. Check your work schedule, mark your calendar and prayerfully join us this year.

Event Page

The IowaGO! Event Page describes what it is like to volunteer to share the gospel during the parade on August 6, and at the booth inside August 7-17. Here you will have inside information about what it is like working the fair. As you watch the videos and read the descriptions, you will find that it is not difficult at all, and actually very enjoyable. There is something for anyone with any amount of evangelism gifting to do.

We invite you to immerse yourself in the rewarding experience of volunteering at the fair! Explore the articles, enjoy the videos, and thoughtfully consider joining our wonderful team. You will be blessed.

If you feel like you need formal evangelism training, consider joining the Testify Training Camp that runs in conjunction with the IowaGO! booth. There is more information about Testify and Tomorrow’s Forefathers and the cost on the page.

Free Training

One of the most important reasons to register ASAP is that upon registration you will be given a free Creation Apologetics and Biblical Evangelism Training Course from Answers in Genesis (CAP101) valued at $29. Repeat volunteers will be given the next training—CAP201. But in order to receive it, you must register and a link will be emailed to you.

Once you register, you can start learning immediately and be fully prepared to answer most questions regarding the gospel, creation, and science.

But wait…there’s more! When you arrive at the booth to start your workday, Tulip Gospel Outreach will provide you with a free Biblical Evangelism Book (valued at $14) to take home and further equip you in sharing the gospel.

Get Advanced Tickets

Since Tulip Gospel Outreach does not provide tickets for volunteers to enter the fair, it is wise for volunteers to purchase advanced tickets with the Iowa State Fair. The advanced ticket price per person is $11, whereas at the gate will be $16. You can purchase them through Hy-Vee, Fairway, or here:

https://www.iowastatefair.org/visit/buy-tickets/

That’s $5 and up to $55 for the entire fair. That’s money you can save for several corn dogs!

More Preperation in Previous Articles

In other articles as well, I listed many helps in regards to preparing to work the IowaGO! fair booth and those articles can be found at: https://pensandwrenches.com/tag/iowa-state-fair-outreach/

But, here is a short list of things to bring and some advice to consider:

  • A pocket bible to share verses with people so they can read it for themselves.
  • A good pair of walking shoes. The pad underneith the booth is great, but still hard on the knees and joints.
  • Something for pain like Advil or Tylanol.
  • I’ve never had a problem bringing protein bars into the park. I would consider bringing some to save money on food.
  • Waterbottle. There are water fountains inside the Varied Industries Building where we will be.
  • Dress comfortably, but casually. We will be inside an air-conditioned building, but it does get warm with the tens of thousands of people that walk through each day.

Spread the Word!

If you are planning on attending, or not, consider spreading the word by sharing this page on social media and with friends and family. Also, you can download this flyer and make posters, leaflets, and flyers to share with your church—https://www.tulipgospeloutreach.org/img/event_iowastatefair_flyer_2025.jpg

Are you ready to elevate your experience this year at the Iowa State Fair with IowaGO! 2025? This is the event you can’t afford to skip! It’s not just rewarding; it’s transformative. Dive deep into something profound—the chance to learn, grow, and boldly share the gospel with those who need it most. Don’t just think about it; make the commitment to be a part of something bigger!
