Over a week ago, a Christian brother in the Lord whom I served with in Manti, Utah during Manti Mormon Miracle Pageant—where we 100 Christians shared the true Jesus Christ to 60,000 – 80,000 Mormons within two weeks—shared the following alternative perspective on the 2024 Presidential Election between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, which I thought was worth reposting with his permission.

Congratulations to all my friends who voted for Trump, particularly my Christian friends. I know most of you are ecstatic about the results of this election. Some of you are not exactly excited though. Because of the content of Trump’s character, you voted for the lesser of two evils. I understand that. Even though I did not vote for Trump, I do believe our country has a better chance of staying true to our Constitution with a Republican President, House and Senate. One thing I am not certain of though, is if this will be good for the Church.
While our Country may prosper, will that also be true of the Church? The writing was already on the wall. If Kamala Harris would have won, it would have been harder to be free to live our Christian faith without the slow creep of persecution continuing to invade our lives. I know that thought isn’t pleasant and that is part of the reason why so many of you are thrilled about the results. But again, is that necessarily good for the Church? Remember, the growth of the first century Church was fanned through the flames of persecution. While a Trump Presidency may be better for our Country, it is also possible that a Harris Presidency would have been better for the growth of the Church.
Think about it. What would you be doing right now if Harris had won? You would probably be begging God for mercy for the oncoming judgement brought upon our Nation. You would rightly be praying for revival like our family has been doing for some time now. If that would have been your prayer if your candidate lost, I implore you to pray it now, even though your candidate has won. Especially now that your candidate has won.
Don’t think for a moment that a Trump Presidency could not also be a sign of judgement upon our nation. In fact, I would dare say that if you haven’t been praying for revival yet, you are already being lured to sleep by the soothing feelings of complacency. Trump is not our solution and if you think for a moment that he is, then you have already been deceived. We are not out of the woods yet.
All is NOT well because Trump has won. We have serious issues to face in this country and I believe the solution of those issues begins with God moving through the Church. I honestly don’t think Satan cares one whit about the future of America. What he does care about though is discrediting and destroying the Church. If he can do that through the prosperity of the Church in America, then guess what? That is exactly what he will do.
I am a firm believer in Romans 13: 1-7 and am 100% assured that God has sovereignly arranged this election to put who He wants in office for our time. He did the same thing when Joe Biden was elected this last term. God has His reasons for choosing whom He wills. We may not know or understand those reasons, but we trust Him with the results anyway. That is why I am free to vote my conscience.
I am also a firm believer that Satan will do whatever he can to continue his war against us. He may have to adjust his strategy and pick different tools to carry on his schemes, but he will never quit. Don’t let Satan fool you with the promise of a prosperous Nation. Pray. Pray against his schemes as if it was Kamala Harris who won the election. Pray for revival. Pray that God uses our freedoms to bring more people to Jesus Christ. Based on our history, we know that persecution will help us grow. It is doing so even now in countries all over the world, but the question I have for you now is this; Can the Church be healthy in a prosperous Nation? We shall see. Don’t make our Nation an idol. It is about the [Kingdom of God] KOG, not the USA. Hit your knees and rise up, Church. Pray for revival.

A fine alternate perspective
I thought this was a fantastic alternative explanation why a Christian decided not to vote for the “lesser of two evils,” but that wasn’t the reason why this was reposted. Everyone has their own convictions and freedom to vote for whoever and however they choose as long as it’s legal. I for one could not vote for a demonic party who destroys children in the womb and mutilates the youth with taxpayer dollars. As much as I didn’t want to vote for Trump (I really wanted DeSantis), I thought not voting would end up a vote for the other side. But this wasn’t the point of the article.
But, does it have to be that way?
What sparked curiosity about the post was if the outcome was good for the church or not. If Harris would have won, it would have been harder to be free to live out our Christian faith with the slow creep of persecution continuing to invade our lives. We all know that the growth of the first century church grew exponentially out of the fanned flames of intense persecution. This also happens with Christians in hostile countries like China, India, and Muslim nations across the 10-40 window, in which Christianity exploded out of persecution. Walker states, “While a Trump Presidency may have been better for our country, it is also possible that a Harris Presidency would have been better for the growth of the Church.” Would it have caused us to get on our knees more in prayer and share the gospel more if Harris would have won? We don’t really know.
Paul, in his letter to the Philippians said:
I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.
Philippians 4:12 NASB95
Though the context in this verse is being content in the state of need or in a state of plenty, Paul was always, and in every situation, content and active. The outside forces regarding his circumstances and situations that became of him didn’t change his direction, purpose, and commitment to the gospel at all. He was sold-out for Jesus and wanted everyone to know Him and the truth. His focus wasn’t on himself, but on serving the Lord and others. It was on the Kingdom of God.
Let’s share the gospel now more than ever; not because we have a Republican President, but that we are closer than ever to the Lord calling us home, and souls enslaved to do the devil’s will. Being sold-out for Jesus Christ shouldn’t change if we have a Republican in office or a Democrat. God help us if our faith relies on our circumstances for motivation. If it does, then what does that say about our faith?

Thanks for the good thoughts. I could never vote for a Democrat, but Trump in the White House is disturbing. I like some of the recent executive orders curtailing various Democrat social engineering initiatives. But then there such things as yesterday’s press conference addressing the airliner-helicopter collision during which Trump tried to politicize the tragedy. He regular says things that are irresponsible and foolish. I’m not pleased with his pardoning of people who attacked policemen on Jan. 6. I’m preaching to myself when I say we mustn’t allow ourselves to become wrapped around the axle regarding temporal politics. It’s a temptation and a snare.

Yes, I agree. I questioned myself for a week I should write the article, but I thought it was a good response and I know some of us Christians really didn’t want to vote but didn’t have much of an alternative. This is why the primaries are almost more important than the presidential election themselves. Granted no candidate is perfect because we all have sin in our lives that we all have to deal with. We’re just not in the spotlight like President Trump. I kind of usually stay out of politics, but unfortunately that’s what got us here in the first place. Like I said the real reason why I posted it was that my friend said he didn’t think it was good for the church, but I disagree. I think with whatever president we have will come with its own problems. We must remember that the church is a separate entity from government. Our culture shouldn’t dictate what the church does; or church should do what the church was commanded to do–preach the gospel.
