WW: Ignite America

Over a week ago, I deep cleaned my office, throwing out papers, finishing tasks, and transforming this space into a calm and productive environment. One of the tasks I tackled was organizing my business cards, which were stacked in a cubby on my desk. Among them, I found a card that said, “IgniteAmerica.com” on one side and “Seeking God?” on the other. At first, I was curious about where it came from, but as I looked it up, everything clicked back into place! I realized how important this card was to me and felt grateful that I didn’t throw it out, as it reminded me to keep going as an evangelist and not stop.

It was during the 2022 Family Leader Summit in Des Moines that I experienced one of the most captivating interviews I have ever seen. Bob Vanderplats interviewed the incredibly inspiring Barry Meguiar, a third-generation heir to the Meguiar’s car wax corporation. The insights shared during this interview were nothing short of enlightening!

You can see from the video above why I was on the edge of my seat watching this live. It encouraged me to keep going, to be obedient to the call placed before me, and then I would have unspeakable joy! Joy comes from doing what you are called to do. Depression is not doing what you are called to do, or doing what you were told not to do. There is joy in obedience. This interview was a great encouragement to me and proof that you are never too old to start or do ministry. We should try new things to advance the kingdom and get help where we can to get it done. In the taping of this interview, Barry was days under 80 years old.

IgniteAmerica.com

One of those new things was Barry’s website: IgniteAmerica.com. When you open this website up, you will realize right away that this is one of the most, if not the most, underrated evangelism website—of all time. And that’s no joke.

The website looks like a car magazine: attractive to men, bold color schemes, and easy-to-read modern fonts. Looking through the menu bar, this website has everything and more. Links to Barry’s book, “Ignite Your Life”, Bible studies, Podcast, app, place to ask for prayer, links for unbelievers, and links to help you learn how to share your faith to the lost.

Gen Z Resources

What was amazing to me is how focused and in-tune Barry is to the next generation with Gen Z Resources. Inside you will find a downloadable guide — From Scroll to Soul: Gen Z’s Guide to Confidently Sharing God’s Love Online. It is a free guide into the biggest mission field of social media that helps you share your faith online—authentically, confidently, and without the cringe. Inside you will find help with:

  • Finding your “faith sharing voice.”
  • Platform tips for TikTok, Instagram, Threads, and more.
  • Testimony templates
  • Ready-to-use captions and content
  • A 7-day faith creator challenge.

You will immediately be encouraged by this content in that you are not an influencer (in worldly terms) but an encourager, a teacher, and a witness for Jesus Christ. There’s no single “right” way to share Jesus. God has already wired your voice—you just need to recognize it, and use it.

Not only that, but you can take Ignite America wherever you go with their app available in the Apple App Store or Google Play. On it, you will find inspirational videos to practical resources to help you engage people in faith conversations and help move everyone, every day closer to Jesus.

Why, How, Tools

Towards the top of the menu is a submenu called 1. Why, 2. How, 3. Tools to get people started in sharing their faith. Many Christians want to share the gospel but just don’t know how. They don’t know where to begin, or even why they should. All they know is that they need to. Inside these links you will find articles, videos, and more to help equip you to be ready and share your faith with those around you.

There are many articles and videos throughout the website to encourage, captivate, and engage the user to reach the lost. He even makes a claim that 80% of Americans are unchurched, with only 1% of Christians actually sharing the gospel. That is a depressing statistic, but one we see all too common especially while teaching Gospel Reset.

One of the tools available for free is the SeekingGod.org cards, which is the business card that I picked up at the Family Leader Summit. These cards come in packs of 20 and can be given to people who are searching. The minor problem is that there is a 2 to 3 week lag-time in delivery.

But…the bad news

There’s one catch with this website and ministry that makes me question some things regarding their beliefs. One of which is speaking very little of creation, accountability, sin, repentance, and hell; the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ.

If I were a lost person going to this site, I could easily get confused at the message that is being shared. It goes on to say in the “pathway to eternity” that:

“Menu to Help You Seek God Your Way: God Will Reveal Himself to You!
Everyone seeks God differently. You have your own questions and ways to seek the truth. SeekingGod.org is your pathway for connecting to God in ways you most trust and understand. God will reveal himself to you (Jeremiah 29:13) when you seek Him with your whole heart. This site is packed with videos, articles, personal stories, books to read, and the scriptural truths that will lead you to God.”

God is anxious to reveal Himself to you!”

“God has a plan for your life, but you have a decision to make!

God’s planned sequence for your life is:

  1. Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9)
  2. Living your life for His purpose (2 Corinthians 5:5)
  3. Having everything in your life, for the rest of your life, work for good (Romans 8:28)
  4. Spending eternity in Heaven (1 Corinthians 2:9; Revelation 21:4)”

Though these are true statements, I feel as though it’s misleading and misrepresents the gospel by not sharing the whole picture. There’s so much left out and not talked about in this website. This is why the unchurched need the Gospel Reset format of Acts 17 explained by Answers in Genesis (AiG) where Paul uses the idolatry of Athens to introduce God to them and Jesus as their Creator, and how they are accountable to Him.

And maybe that’s one of the main reasons why Barry is so joyful and happy sharing his faith—that it is a message of hope, love, and life-enhancement instead of Jesus as a parachute saving your soul from the jump to come. I wonder how many unbelievers who went through the website and made a commitment to Christ are actually continuing in the faith; especially when things don’t go as planned and not become a bitter backslider because they came to Jesus for the wrong reasons.
