WW: PrayerMate

PrayerMate.net

Keeping up with prayer requests from people can be a difficult challenge for some of us. Life is busy enough, but for those who are in ministry and are involved in so many lives, organizing our prayer requests can be daunting. We have different groups: whether they be family, friends, unbelievers or church members; then add layers of complexity to our prayer commitments. Moreover, since circumstances often shift and evolve, it’s essential to stay current and attentive to these changes. To conquer this challenge, some have elaborate lists that they work with in journals, allowing for a tangible connection to the names and situations they are praying for. Others take advantage of technology by setting up lists in Google Sheets or Google Keep, which can be easily updated and accessed from anywhere, providing a dynamic structure for managing prayer requests. But with these lists, it takes time to create and always have bugs in the programming that the user has to fix. If only there were an app that not only enhance organization but also foster a deeper sense of community as we share and carry one another’s burdens through dedicated prayer?

Look no further than—PrayerMate.

PrayerMate is the best app I have found that keeps all my prayers up to date and organized in a way that is easy to use, and gets others involved. It helps you pray consistently for the people and causes you care about, develop a discipline of prayer, help you organize your prayer life, know what to pray for, and actually pray. Watch the intro video below to give you a taste of what it can do. After you start the video, click the settings gear icon and set the video quality to the highest setting. This will help you see it clearer for some of the writing is small.

There are so many options with PrayerMate to give you the best possible experience without the need to learn another hi-tech app for your phone or tablet. To get started, download the free app on either the Apple App Store, Google Play, or even the Amazon Appstore. It can be added to your phone or tablet with ease.

Next, add a LIST, which is a category for certain prayers you want to pray for. You may have a list for:

  • Family
  • Church
  • Unbelievers
  • Outreach
  • My walk with God
  • Special Events
  • World Mission
  • Government Issues
  • etc.

Next, click on a particular LIST you want to add to, and create a new SUBJECT. For a family list, you can add a person’s name or problem in the family. For an outreach list, you can add people that you share the gospel with as subjects.

Once you create a subject within a particular list, next you want to add new items or CARDS to that subject. So, in the FAMILY (list) you may have COUSIN MARCY (subject) and she may have different individual prayers (cards) that are added, like:

  1. pray she receives the Lord.
  2. She would be delivered from her cancer.
  3. She’s so negative. Help me to be kind and to pray for her often.

In place of CARDS / PRAYERS, you can create event reminders, prayer packs, PDF attachments from other files, letters, or organizations; or a stack of cards to combine multiple cards into a rotating stack.

Click the video below to see what it can do for you and how to set it up. Again, make sure the video quality is at it’s highest in the settings (gear icon).

The great thing about this app too is you can make it personal by adding pictures, set how often you want to pray for certain subjects, and set reminders during the day to pray.

Also, you can also be part of a church group and get others involved to share your requests and use this as a wonderful tool to help build a community of praying disciples. PrayerMate SHARE lets church members securely share prayer requests and pray for each other in small, trusted groups. Filter out the noise of group chats and encourage each other in prayer throughout the week. PrayerMate FEEDS makes it easy to keep your whole church up to date about specific prayer needs. It’s easy to import loads of prayer points at once, and you can publish them to social media too. For these extra enhancements, there are some different pricing plans. But the free (small) app you get:

  • 1 prayer feed
  • up to 25 subscribers
  • 3 groups
  • basic feed stats

This is perfect for a small group or men’s Bible study to get others involved.

Personally, I love using the free app to curate my own prayer feed, exclusively for my eyes! It’s a wonderful way to connect with my intentions as I add new prayers and subjects throughout the week. While my family and friends are always in my thoughts, I also include a category called: SHORT TERM PRAYERS, which lasts just a week. I find joy in praying over these subjects whether I’m waiting in line at the grocery store, enjoying a quiet moment in the bathroom, or bringing my list along to Bible study or prayer group during the week.

PrayerMate is a ministry of Discipleship Tech, a group in the UK created to help people grow in their relationship with Jesus through technology. They are constantly making this app better, and looking forward to creating more apps to help missionaries, churches, and small groups around the world. Donations to this group are tax deductible.

If you are interested in using this app and need help, please don’t hesitate to ask. It’s definitely a game-changer when it comes to the organization of all the prayers that are important to us. It’s helped me a ton, and it can do the same for you.
