A few years after I received the Lord in 2003, I had the idea while on a camping trip for a website question & answer database called: Honest Answers, where people can send in questions that a team of knowledgeable Christians would answer. I started the website in Google Blogger, but struggled to write enough articles, gain funding, and most importantly—help. It was an amazing idea, that fortunately never got off the ground. Why do I say, “fortunately?” Well, if I started it, we might never have known about Got Questions Ministries (GQM).
I first heard of this website in October, 2020 when the world seemed to be in lockdown. I was struggling to get into gospel conversations, and was drying up. A friend texted me out-of-the-blue and said they were hiring writers. So, since I already had two magazine articles under my belt, I applied. Within a month I was hired and received my very first question: “What is Sukyo Mahakari and is it biblical?” Before long, my computer would travel the globe answering difficult questions about faith, Christianity, cults, and life from all seven continents.
One website, many layers
As you have seen in the above video if you clicked on it, Got Questions Ministries has one website, a sort of foyer, for all its other ministry content. Here, you can access the different rooms that comprises the full scope of the ministry. Here are the various links and what they are:
- Got Questions (GotQuestions.org): The flagship of Got Questions Ministries. Here, you can access a massive database of answered questions that have been generated over the years. If you cannot find an answer, simply click the Ask a Question button and they will answer it within a week.
- BibleRef (BibleRef.com): A free online Bible commentary you can understand. Here you can find book-by-book, chapter-by-chapter, and verse-by-verse commentary on the entire Bible (eventually). This is guided by three major principles: Biblical Authority, Accessibility, and Discipleship.
- Compelling Truth (CompellingTruth.org): Presenting the truth of the Christian faith in a compelling, relevant, and practical way. To encourage evangelism, discipleship, and encourage one another.
- 412 Teens (412teens.org): Dedicated to encouraging teens and sharing pearls of biblical truth in a sea of worldly sludge. This is like GotQuestions.org, but made for teens and geared to the world they live in. Practical and loving advice with video in a way teens can understand and reflect on.
- GQKidz (gqkidz.org): A safe place for your kids to ask questions about God, Jesus, and the Bible in an age-appropriate, biblically sound website. This is also a great place for parents and Children’s Ministry staff to view how to answer kids questions in a way they can understand.
- Podcast (podcast.gotquestions.org): The Got Questions Ministry Podcast. Click the link to view on website, watch on YouTube, or listen in other music streaming services, like Spotify.
- GQM Video Ministry Channel (GQM.one/video): Uses the visual arts to equip individuals to grow in their understanding of God’s Word. Many videos of different topics for those who only have a few minuites to spare. Also, these videos can be shared to encourage others to share Christ and to know Him.
- Free Bible Studies (https://www.gotquestions.org/free-Bible-study.html): These Bible studies are created for individual and group study on a particular topic related to the Bible, theology, and Christian life. Guaranteed to spark discussion and thought on a wide range of topics.
- Blog (gotquestions.blog): Biblical insights, reflections on life, and questions about the ministry. All here at the blog.
Ask a question
If for some reason you search the database and cannot find an answer to your question, click the ASK button at the top of the GotQuestions.org menu and you will be directed to a page where you can send it in.
Due to high volume of questions asked, expect a 3-7 day wait before they are able to answer your question. If you do ask a question, here is a guidline that will help us writers give you the best answer we can:
- Check the database in the search block to make sure someone else didn’t answer it.
- Keep your questions to a bare minimum—one or two at most. We’ve seen submissions loaded with over ten questions, and it’s a nightmare to tackle them all in just three days. Don’t make it harder than it has to be!
- Write clearly and legibly. Make sure to proofread your submissions and not use jargon that only a select people might know.
- Use short sentences. No need to go on and on about a topic.
- If you are asking about a particular website or verse, please include the website and verse in the question.
Impacting the world
As volunteer writers, we are privy to the monthly stats regarding Got Questions Ministries and their impact around the world. Just this last month (April, 2025) there were:
- 8,363,266 users of GotQuestions.org across all languages
- 14,043,228 sessions on GotQuestions.org across all languages
- 18,920,118 pageviews of GotQuestions.org across all languages
- 261,532 views of dedicated gospel presentation pages across all Got Questions Ministries network sites in all languages.
- 6,325 professions of faith in Jesus Christ, as counted by the “I have accepted Christ today” link on our gospel presentation pages across all Got Questions Ministries network sites in all languages
- 2,814 questions submitted to the English Q&A system
During 2021, I have seen over 12,000 professions of faith in Jesus Christ in one month! If this is just one month’s stats—imagine what a year looks like!
Writing for GQM
Writing for GQM has been an absolute blessing, but it’s also been emotionally difficult. The paid staff and editors get to see the unedited requests, the hate mail, and really bad question requests. But those that make it to my computer are sometimes difficult to imagine. Most of the questions I receive come from those who do not have a biblically sound church or no one to disciple them. I remember one specifically where twenty year-old girl from India just got saved and she was struggling to hide it from her family because they are Hindu and feared her father would not only disown her—but might end her life because of her new faith in Christ. The following week she was expected to perform rituals to her gods, but she wanted to make a stand. Since we have no way of contacting her, I am left somewhere between hope and horror.
Those questions where people are wanting to know the true Christ and His gospel are ones that bring me great joy, as they signify a genuine search for understanding and meaning in a world filled with confusion. For those questioning Roman Catholicism and worldly wisdom, seeking to uncover the deeper truths of faith, I find it uplifting to witness their desire to explore and engage with the message of hope that Jesus offers and abandon dead religion. It’s humbling to be used this way and impact someone’s eternity in another part of the world.
If you are a writer and would like to team up with them, fill out an application. You will be blessed.
Though GQM should never take the place of a local church, Bible study, or discipleship, it is a great way to stay informed and hear a different perspective about a certain topic. Check out all the sites and explore. I hope this has blessed you. If it has, please consider sharing it with others.
